Director of leading aluminium firms calls for more innovation

A Director of a leading aluminium fabricator that has been in business for over twenty years has called on the aluminium sector to ‘pull out all the stops’, following continued strong output growth in the UK construction sector.
Jerry Webb, who is Managing Director of CDW Systems, welcomed the recent findings from the Markit/CIPS UK construction index – that showed output growth has been maintained across the UK construction sector, supported by sharp rises in housing, commercial and civil engineering activity.
But he has urged all those passionate about aluminium to continue innovating; championing and pushing the material, in order to ensure it remains in demand in the residential and commercial sector.
He comments: “Aluminium has experienced a renaissance domestically and has held its own commercially, as you would expect. But what’s next? Aluminium bi-folding doors have been great for installers but what will be in demand in the next five years?
“It was exciting to recently see the rolling out of WarmCore, which is an innovative aluminium folding sliding door system which incorporates a radically different product design approach. We need more of this – because it is constant product evolution and new design ideas that will ensure aluminium continues to increase in popularity.
“It’s also the simple things such as communicating the benefits of the material and promoting the portfolio of products on offer.”
CDW work with systems companies to research, design and launch a new product each year.
“Certainly our aim here is to continue to look for the next big thing or market niche in order for our installer customers to have the tools they need to win new business both in the commercial and domestic sectors,” Jerry comments further.
CDW Systems manufacture and supply a wide range of windows, doors, shop fronts and curtain walling, using some of the leading aluminium profile systems on the market today, including SAPA, ALUK and Smarts.
Sustained growth at the company has led them to recently add a second shift at its factory and the company is on course to record its best every year in business.
