Door innovation marks CDW Systems' 21st birthday

Wind back twenty-one years to the early 1990's and the UK was in difficult economic times. The country's GDP had recorded its sharpest drop in ten years and retail sales in October of that year had fallen 1.1%. Fast forward twenty-one years and it's a familiar tale; an economic chill is lingering in the air, consumer confidence is low and the glass and glazing industry is shrinking and ultra-competitive.
One company that is a veteran of both recessions is Gloucester based CDW Systems. Formed in 1991, the specialist aluminium manufacturer cut its teeth in economically tough times by investing wisely and operating shrewdly. Two decades later and as CDW Systems celebrate their 21st birthday not much has changed. The company is continuing to invest across its business and recently launched another exciting new product into the market, all against a difficult economic backdrop.
Easy Secure Door
The product in question is the EasySecure commercial door - an evolution of one of CDW Systems best selling products, the tried and tested Sapa Stormframe Easyway door. The door is suitable for new build, refurbishment, residential, educational and light commercial applications alike and boasts a number of new and unique features that differentiate it from the competition.
Any hardware can be fitted to EasySecure - including Dorma, Axim and Adams Rite - offering extended customer choice and improving security credentials, while a co-extruded bead makes the glass more secure within the door leaf. Another exciting development is the new one piece anti-finger trap stile designed to suit all types of exit devices without the need for a mid-rail.
Dual weathering all the way around the perimeter of the door minimises air and water infiltration and ensure the product performs better for longer. A wide range of polyester powder coat finishes complete the picture.
Managing Director Jerry Webb elaborates on another successful product launch: "We were keen to mark our 21st birthday in style so took the decision to develop and launch a completely new and unique product into the market. We worked in conjunction with Sapa to make the door even more secure and high-performing and the result is a product that really stands out from the crowd."
While it may be early days for the EasySecure door, according to Jerry momentum is already starting to build. "The door has been well recieved by our customers and numerous installations have already taken place" Jerry confirms.
Sound Investment
The door has certainly proved a hit - but what's next for CDW Systems? More of the same according to Jerry: "We've steadily grown year on year since we formed in 1991 and we anticipate the business will continue its upward trajectory despite the challenging economic conditions. We remain dedicated to our customers and have the experience to realise that if you invest wisely in the right products, you can survive the bad times and flourish in the good, whether it's 1991 or 2012."
