The CDW Systems summer school

With teachers and school kids having packed away their books and headed off for the summer break, aluminium specialists CDW Systems Lts is in the midst of a jam-packed summer calender as it supplies windows and doors for a number of school refurbishments.
For the most recently completed school project, the Gloucester based aluminium door and window fabricator worked together with Hertfordshire based N&P Windows to complete a refurbishment at Whiteshill Primary School in Hitchin.
CDW Systems Ltd manufactured and supplied around 90 Sapa dual-frame windows to N&P who installed them as part of the refurbishment.
The dual-frame windows replaced 1960s style steel frame windows at the site and N&P's Managing Director Jim Hodgson elaborates on the project: "We supplied a big quantity of dual-frame windows, which have really low u-values, to replace all of the 1960s style steel-frame windows which were in use.
"They were old-fashioned and looked out-of-date and quite ugly. Now when you come up the hill to get to the school your eyes are straight away fixed on the white frames and bright blue panels - it looks really impressive and certainly grabs your attention. It was a rewarding contract to complete."
N+P windows have been a CDW Systems customer for five years and according to Jim, they are an expert company to work together with on local authority projects.
He comments: "We have nine on-going school projects with CDW Systems. All of the projects are won under local authority framework contracts and CDW Systems' superb range of commercial windows and doors and knowledgeable service ensure these always run smoothly.
"They really are a great company to work with and you can see why they have been leading aluminium specialists for over twenty years."
According to CDW Systems' Operations Director Colin Urquhart, the school gates closing for summer traditionally brings about an upturn in work as institutions take advantage of the break to upgrade their premises, and he is glad to have already completed a number of projects.
"We expect to be flat-out over the coming weeks, what with school refurbishments and it's good to have a number of projects completed already.
"We specialise in both commercial and domestic applications and aluminium is ideal for both as it's virtually zero maintenance, has high structural integrity and will not warp or twist. It is also aesthetically pleasing and looks great dual-coloured."
CDW Systems manufacture a wide range of windows, doors, shop fronts and curtain walling using some of the leading aluminium profile systems on the market today including Smarts, SAPA and Beaufort.
