Automation pioneers Swift Frame mark thirty years of success

Ground-breaking fabricator Swift Frame is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
Founders Terry Rush and Dave Tunnicliffe were among the first to embrace large-scale automation in manufacturing windows and doors.
In the years that followed, the Norfolk firm was therefore able to produce thousands of quality products a week with only a small workforce.
Lower overheads meant that the resulting doors and windows could be sold for highly competitive prices.
Today, its state-of-the art manufacturing facility, including six Schirmer CNCs, can produce over a thousand frames a week with only 40 staff.
Automation isn’t the only area where Swift Frame have stood out as innovators, however.
To better control costs and quality, the company took the decision to begin extruding – again allowing it to offer great value to its customers.
Taken together, it makes Swift Frame one of the most impressive, vertically integrated fabricators operating in Britain today.
“I’ve visited literally hundreds of window factories since I first started in fenestration back in the ‘80s”, comments Sales Director Jason Scrivens.
“But when I first came to Swift Frame, I was hugely impressed. I wasn’t just blown away by the scale of what Terry and the team had achieved already – it was also it’s massive potential to do even more.
“As we celebrate thirty years, we’re reflecting on the company’s hugely successful history to date.
“However, we’re also making ambitious plans for the future, and want to ensure the next three decades are even bigger and better.”
For many years, Swift Frame’s commitment to state-of-the-art technology was symbolised by Swifty – the company’s friendly robot mascot.
“It’s possible we might be seeing more of Swifty in our thirtieth anniversary year – it would be a fitting time for him to come out of retirement!”, Jason adds.
In addition to its own profile system, Swift Frame offers a range of other quality products from leading suppliers like Solidor, Optima, Spectus and Veka.
