Window Ware joined forces with their industry peers to complete the GMF 100-mile challenge, after having to postpone their attempt by a week due to injuries and absences.
On Sunday 15th August, the team of five, headed up by MD Sam Nuckey, alongside Head of Internal Sales and Marketing Sarah Binns, Commercial Director Richard Bryant, Content Marketing Executive Vicky Gibson and Marketing Production Manager Phil Freeman, cycled a total of 132 miles to raise money for Hope House and Ty Gobaith children’s hospices.
The route took in the delights of the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire countryside. And it was apt that the team finished their challenge at Stotfold’s golden post box which was painted in honour of Victoria Pendleton’s gold medal winning performance at the London 2012 Olympics.
The event was organised by industry charity fundraiser GM Fundraising and more than 90 riders took part representing 13 companies from across the fenestration industry.
“Of course, we were disappointed we couldn’t complete our challenge along with all our industry colleagues on the 8th August as planned, but we weren’t going to let a few minor setbacks stop us” said Sam.
“The ride was tough, especially as we’re not all accomplished cyclists, but the team was tremendous. We thought our photographic ‘nod’ to Bedfordshire’s sporting hero Victoria Pendleton was a great way to finish.”
With the help of all the other GMF100 riders, sponsors and supporters, Window Ware helped the charity raise a whopping £55,000 for the children’s hospices!
“It was great to see so many companies taking part in the challenge and it really does demonstrate how generous and big-hearted our industry is, to come together to support worthwhile causes like this,” said Sam.
Hope House Children’s Hospices provide palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions and support for their families, both on site and in their homes.
