A 29 year old, who is managing director of a business employing 52 people, wowed judges at a major business awards recently – unanimously winning the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award.
Brady George won Rising Star of the Year at the 2015 Business Leader Awards – with judges impressed by his passion and determination; and how he has taken on the baton of managing director from his father Gary – who founded the business.
The award was open to individuals under the age of 35 and Brady won against tough competition from across the South West.
He was presented his award by Geoff Cole, who is the MD of Burton Sweet and a sponsor of the award, and Gyles Brandreth – who was the compere for the evening.
The Business Leader Awards is the region’s premier business event – and celebrates enterprise and success; attracting 310 business leaders, celebrities and
VIPs such as Caprice.
The awards were open to businesses across the South West and a team of ten judges spent four weeks visiting businesses and looking over the entries in order to reach a decision.
Geoff was also on the judging panel and said of Brady: “At only 29 he has taken on the huge responsibility of inheriting a successful family business. But already he is pioneering change and shaping the business to be even more successful going forward.”
“I visited Brady, and myself and the other judges were very impressed by his business acumen, grasp of commercial reality and the business plan he put together whilst studying at Cranfield – he is truly a worthy winner.”
Brady comments: “It goes without saying I am delighted to win this coveted award and I would like to thank all of the staff at Almeda for making this possible; and for delivering our vision with such professionalism and accuracy.”
“I’d also like to thank my father Gary – his drive and determination to make a difference remains a source of daily inspiration.”
Almeda were also finalists in the business of the year category – making the last three ahead of over twenty well-known businesses in the South West.
The firm narrowly missed out winning this award.
Formed in 1981 as an electrical contracting company, Gary re-launched Almeda in 2007 as a total facilities management provider and now count @Bristol, Arnolfini, Bristol & Bath Science Park, SS Great Britain and many more as clients.
Brady joined the company at the age of 23, working in every department of the business before taking on his previous role as Operations Director.
