‘What can businesses learn from Leicester miracle?’

With sports fans up and down the UK still taking in the shock of Leicester City winning the premier league title against all odds, one Bristol based director believes there are lessons to be taken from this ‘miracle’.
Brady George – Managing Director of Almeda Facilities Ltd - says that business owners and budding entrepreneurs can learn as much from the Leicester miracle as they can from any business book or expensive course.
He says: “For me anyway, I believe there is lots to take from this unbelievable sporting achievement. Firstly how to build a winning team when you don’t the resources of your competitors; secondly how to motivate your staff and make them believe they can achieve miracles and thirdly how hard work, persistence, imagination, creativity and enthusiasm are the bulwarks of success.
“Nobody had given Leicester a chance but through teamwork and self-belief they have actually performed a miracle which has elements that can inspire us all.”
Leicester started the season as 5,000 – 1 outsiders and had one of the lowest budgets in the league but still managed to win the title with two games to spare; finishing ahead of established names such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, all of which had bigger budgets and supposedly better players.
Leicester also used the lowest amount of players out of any team; and their team also included Jamie Vardy – who four years ago was playing semi-professional football.
Brady concludes: “Sport has for decades inspired business owners and there is a lot of linkage between the two professions. It’s good to have another achievement now to look up to; and it will be interesting to hear the thoughts of the manager Claudio Ranieri in the coming months.’
