Aluminium pivot window first for Astraseal

Wellingborough based fabricator Astraseal is well known for having a wide reaching and diverse product range. The company manufactures a large selection of windows, doors, conservatories and curtain walling in a choice of REHAU, Synseal, Smarts and Reynars profile, all of which can be sprayed in any RAL colour. Sealed units are made in house, including toughened and laminated units, so installers have the added benefit of buying the complete product direct from the manufacturer, and niche items such as fire doors, VS windows and Synseal’s new Warm Core door are also on offer.
However one product was missing from Astraseal’s range –aluminium pivot windows – and when Bedford Hospital asked whether this style was available, operations director Colin Stanley decided to send a qualified surveyor out to site to see what would be required. Astraseal’s surveyor and Colin agreed they wanted to take on this project, so we notified the hospital and designed the window using the Visoline suite from Smart Aluminium.
Colin takes up the story: “We already offer a full suite of Smarts and Reynaers, but historically hadn’t experienced any real demand for aluminium pivot windows, so didn’t include them in our product portfolio. We are a very customer centric business and when we were asked if we could supply pivot windows for Bedford Hospital, we decided to do everything we could to help. We ordered the profile and the first window we made operated like a dream. You have to be millimetre perfect with pivot windows, but thanks to our experienced fabrication team and state-of-the-art machinery we were able to get it right first time. Once this first window was installed, Bedford Hospital gave us the green light to continue with the rest of the project.”
The introduction of the aluminium pivot window is the latest in a very long line of product launches from Astraseal, the first of which dates back to 1979 when the fabricator became one of the early pioneers of an exciting new product – the PVC-u window. The style was tilt and turn and it was made with a German profile which is no longer available. In 1990 Astraseal teamed up with systems company REHAU and today they offer a wide spectrum of REHAU products using the Total 70 and Geneo systems. Astraseal’s Synseal offering includes vertical sliders, the Global roof and Warm Core door; while aluminium products come in a choice of Smarts or Reynars profile.
“We have a strong tradition of product innovation and we look forward to continuing this long into the future” Colin concluded.
