Pioneering new product hits the UK market

Caldwell UK is launching a pioneering new product – in Q4 2016 – to the commercial window market that combines engineering and technology spanning two continents.
Caldwell, which has its headquarters in Rochester, New York, is a global leader in specialist hardware and is the parent company of Cotswold Architectural Products – an international friction stay manufacturer.
Ultra Stay – launched under the Cotswold brand – is a new egress easy clean friction stay for use on larger side hung casement applications up to 1000mm wide and a weight of up to 45kg – a 20 per cent increase in max weight capacity on Caldwell’s existing range of stays.
It is also the first integration of Caldwell’s US technology for the Power Drive system in the Cotswold brand of stays.
Tim Ferkin, sales and marketing director at Caldwell, comments: “Ultra Stay is a perfect example of the synergy between Caldwell and Cotswold. Cotswold is a specialist in heavy duty stays and Caldwell’s Power Drive technology enhances this, providing mechanical assistance to the friction stay for a smooth operation tested to 25,000 cycles.
“It is ideal for high-use commercial applications such as offices and residential apartments – combining emergency exit requirements with an easy-clean facility – and is also available in Austenitic steel to ensure longevity in even the most corrosive environments.”
Ultra Stay is one of seven new products Caldwell has launched to market as part of the company’s 2020 vision to become the world’s leading total hardware solution provider.
Cotswold showcased this product at the FIT Show, where it received positive feedback from visiting fabricators and Caldwell customers.
Tim comments: “Demand was there for a heavier duty friction stay. We listened to the customer and designed and brought to market something that met these specific needs whilst also being commercially available to the rest of the market.
“We can now offer a complete range of stays through every project and requirement, from our standard range of hinges through to parallel opening and even automated solutions.”
