Shortages in construction sector present opportunity for glazing suppliers

Shortages in construction sector present opportunity for glazing suppliers

Posted on 01/10/2014

A recent Market / CIPS Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) has highlighted major growth in construction, with this sector expanding at its fastest rate for seven months in August.

However, the rapid pace of growth means this sector is experiencing material shortages, presenting new opportunities for suppliers in the glazing industry.

“The industry was hit hard during the financial crisis,” says Insight Data’s operations manager, Jade Greenhow. “Now as the industry picks up businesses are struggling to ramp up manufacturing to pre-crisis levels to meet rocketing demand in the construction sector, putting projects on hold or behind schedule.”

Hundreds of residential housing, commercial new-build, and refurbishment developments need building products such as windows, doors, and roofline. If suppliers want to get involved in this growing market they need to get in touch with house builders and main contractors, says Jade:

“Contacting the key decision makers in house building and contracting firms puts your business in front of the people who matter and who desperately need suppliers of glazed building products for both new and refurbishment projects.”

The Insight Construction File database contains information on over 3,000 major house builders, main contractors, property developers and property maintenance companies in the UK, including key contacts such as senior decision makers and influencers.

Companies can be filtered depending on sector, for example, housing, public, retail and leisure, and can be provided on a national basis. All records are updated live, in-real time so you’re only accessing the most relevant and accurate information.

“As the construction industry goes from strength to strength, the amount of changes occurring, such as changes in contact information, key people leaving, and business mergers and acquisitions, will increase. With Construction File all record updates are instantly available to see, making it easier for you to go straight to the right people before your competitors.” Jade concludes.
