Queen’s Award-winning restrictor specialists Jackloc® had a FAB time at the Sylvia Anderson Awards, a special event designed to honour the late co-creator of Thunderbirds and recognise rising authors, actors, filmmakers and musicians.
Held at the home of British cinema, London’s Pinewood Studios, Jackloc Director Judith Burrows joined celebrity guests and dignitaries for the special luncheon. The Leicestershire-firm, which Sylvia Anderson proudly championed, sponsored the award for ‘Best Children’s Author’.
“We were absolutely delighted to support such a fantastic event, honouring Sylvia Anderson and recognising fantastic, emerging talent – a real passion of Sylvia’s,” comments Judith.
“We have had a very close relationship with the Anderson family for many years and it meant so much to us for Sylvia and now her daughter Dee, to endorse Jackloc. We connected over a shared commitment to keeping families safe and we are so proud to help in continuing her legacy.”
As well as legendary comedy writer Barry Cryer, actor Sanjeev Bhaskar and TV personality Anthea Turner all in attendance, the event featured authentic props from the likes of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet. The event concluded with a ‘What Money Can’t Buy’ auction in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. The headline lot was Sylvia Anderson’s personal puppet of Lady Penelope – the iconic character she created and voiced, which fetched £2,000.
Sylvia and her daughter Dee partnered with Jackloc as Thunderbirds commemorated its 50th anniversary, swapping International Rescue for international safety. The pair endorsed Jackloc’s original range of universal window and door restrictors, which safeguards thousands of lives everyday worldwide in both residential and commercial applications.
Designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK to exacting BS EN standards, the range includes push and turn, swivel stud and key-lockable folding models. It is headlined by the ground-breaking MK2 key-lockable restrictor, which was honoured in 2017 with The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation – the UK’s most prestigious business award.
