Listers partner the Realise Foundation

Listers partner the Realise Foundation

Posted on 05/02/2014

There comes a point in everyone's life when we’ve appreciated a bit of a leg-up. And it’s especially pleasing when we can do the same for others helping them change their lives for the better. This is an ethos that Lister Trade Frames of Stoke on Trent have long since adhered to and that is why they have decided to partner the “Realise Foundation” as their chosen charity.

The Realise Foundation is a member of the Aspire Group who are well known for providing affordable social housing across North Staffordshire. As part of their social awareness and drive to create prosperous communities, the Realise Foundation was set-up with the goal of helping those with a disadvantaged background to get into employment, whether that be through training, work experience or simply providing financial aid to allow the candidate to buy suitable clothes for work.

Since the launch of the charity in 2010, Realise have provided grants for over 225 apprentices and helped over 2500 individuals into work.

As long time advocates of hiring apprentices and offering young people the chance to learn a trade and earn a wage, Listers saw the synergy between the charity and how they operate and so decided that they could help make a bigger difference locally by working with Realise. That dedication to helping others has led Listers to become a Platinum Partner of the charity, offering support and fundraising.

"We've seen firsthand how taking on a young person and teaching them a trade can dramatically change their life for the better," said Mark Warren, MD for Listers. "By partnering with Realise, we can offer our support to a superb charity that makes a real difference to people's lives."

George Davies, Head of Procurement at Aspire Housing and charity co-ordinator at Realise said, "We're delighted that Listers have decided to join us as Platinum Partners. Their business reputation and their work ethic of supporting the local community fit wonderfully with our aims and goals. We're sure that with Listers on board, we'll be able to spread the news of the work that we do to a larger audience."

Listers have worked on many different projects that have benefited the community over the years and by throwing their support behind the Realise Foundation, they are emphasising their commitment to helping disadvantaged young people into work and helping to make Stoke on Trent a more prosperous city.

"Yes Listers is a business," commented Mark, "but we also have a responsibility to try to make a difference to our local economy and community. Realise work tirelessly to deliver real solutions to those less fortunate and that is something that resonates with us quite strongly."
