Smells like team spirit

The success of any business is built on a solid infrastructure and a workforce that are dedicated to the cause. When the economic climate is so volatile, having the support of your staff is vital to maintaining a viable business.
Lister Trade Frames are a Stoke on Trent based award winning company with a history spanning four decades, their success has always been based on team spirit and commitment to a strong work ethic. The Directors wanted to show their staff how valued their efforts were in these difficult times and so organised a little treat for them.
Listers are official partners with Stoke City football club and being a Stoke based company, there are quite a few Stoke City fans amongst their staff. So, as a special favour, Listers arranged for two top premiership footballers to pay a surprise visit to their office, trade counter and factory facilities at their Fenton site. Rory Delap and Mamady Sidibe nonchalantly wandered into Listers fresh from the training ground and surprised the staff with an impromtu visit.
"Keeping a lid on the visit was very tricky but it was well worth it to see the looks on the faces of the staff," remarked Derrith Turner, HR Director. "Rory and Mamady are heroes to some of our guys and it was a great way to thank our staff."
Of course even premiership footballers have to get their hands dirty sometimes and it was very much the case when they were put to work on Listers BIG Trade Counter. "We were were a couple of men down due to holidays so we put them straight to work serving customers," said MD Mark Warren. "Unfortunately we had to cut their time behind the counter short when Rory Delap decided to perfect his trademark throw using a box of Everbuild Silicone Sealant with our counter manager!"
The two footballers spent the afternoon signing autographs, having their pictures taken with fans and generally getting involved with the day’s activities. Listers also arranged a free draw for the staff with prizes of a signed football, match day tickets and 10 invitations to the annual SCFC end of season gala dinner.
“We wanted our team to know that they are an important part of the Listers machine. By doing something like this, all the Directors were able to show them that their efforts are appreciated,” commented Mark. “At the end of the day, team spirit is pivotal to the success of any company.”
Listers would like to thank Rory, Mamady and Stoke City for all their help in making this a really special day for their staff.
