MWD Trade Frames sees the merits of 'going British'

MWD Trade Frames is reaping the rewards of its 100% British supply chain, following a steady increase in sales.
Over the last quarter sales at the Somerset based fabricator have increased, with directors at the fabricator saying its decision to buy only British made product has contributed to the positive news.
MWD’s managing director Jim Martin explains: “Sourcing our profile and components from British manufacturers means we have total control over the work flow. As a result installers benefit from hand-crafted products and faster lead times; and this has undoubtedly had a positive impact on sales, which are increasing quarter on quarter.
“And aside from the financial rewards, it allows us to moderate the impact our manufacturing has on the environment. We recycle all off cuts of PVCu profile in order to reduce our carbon footprint.”
MWD fabricates Duraflex PVCu windows and doors, and Ultraframe and Synseal conservatory roofs from its 20,000 sq ft factory in Cheddar.
It is also a supplier of Solidor composite doors.
The profile is extruded in Tewkesbury, glass supplied by Mid-Devon Glass, and all locks and hardware are manufactured by British suppliers.
Aside from the obvious benefits to installers, Jim is also encouraging trade and consumers to support British manufacturing to help boost the local economy.
“With our national assets increasingly owned by overseas companies it’s refreshing to see suppliers championing ‘made in Britain’ products and we’re proud to be one of these companies. With the economy picking up, it’s important to support British manufacturing and, in turn, create more jobs,” concludes Jim.
