Meet the company revolutionising the construction hoardings industry

Meet the company revolutionising the construction hoardings industry

Posted on 15/08/2017

In his former life, Steve Matthews was a project manager for a large construction firm where he was overseeing major accounts for national retail brands such as Tesco.

After identifying a gap in the market for a cost effective, sustainable, and innovative hoardings solution, Steve took the plunge and went about launching his own business and changing an industry.

Working on-site, Steve found himself unhappy with the quality of traditional plywood and composite panel hoardings that were wasteful, costly, unsafe and time consuming to install.

His solution was Plasloc, a patented freestanding PVCu internal and external cladding system designed for a quality, quick installation and easy removal.

Plasloc combines the science of the traditional tongue and groove joint with the unique benefit of a compression lock, which prevents panels from separating and failing.

The system has also been developed as an environmentally friendly alternative to standard building materials. After use, the cladding is granulated and ready to be closed-loop recycled back into the next generation of Plasloc; a process that ensures zero waste.

Plasloc has taken off in the construction industry, quickly building a reputation for quality and service. The company is currently turning over in excess of £2m and is on course to grow exponentially over the next ten years.

Steve has worked with major building companies such as Balfour Beatty and Berkeley Group and the Plasloc brand is recognised among leading retailers including Selfridges, John Lewis and IKEA, Tesco, Morrison’s and Sainsbury – to name but a few.

Steve, who founded Plasloc in 2007 – officially launching in 2011 – comments on how his innovation is helping to change an industry.

He comments: “Like most ideas, Plasloc was launched to serve the market better than the solutions that were available at the time. I believed there was a better option and it has proven to be the case, with the product offering the end-user superior sustainability credentials, quality and value added engineering.

“Compared to traditional construction materials, Plasloc brings far more benefits to both the client and the environment. The future is very bright and we’re excited about growing the business and continuing to build our portfolio of clients.”
