Victorian Sliders – Britain’s secret systems company
Posted on 17/03/2021
A lot of people know that Victorian Sliders is Europe’s biggest sash window manufacturer – an innovative, high-tech business with the capacity to produce one of its highly-regarded ECOSlide windows every 40 seconds.
But fewer realise that the Ammanford firm is also a systems company – albeit one that only extrudes profile for its own use.
Most British window suppliers are fabricators. They buy in third-party components, cut them to size, then just assemble them to make finished products.
Victorian Sliders is different. Every piece of core profile the company uses is extruded on-site at its 240,000 square foot headquarters, using the same raw materials as some of Europe’s leading uPVC systems companies, from the world’s largest suppliers.
“The fact we’re an extruder, as well as a manufacturer, has been a crucial part of Victorian Sliders’ success,” comments Group Managing Director Andy Jones.
“It gives us unparalleled control over the consistency and quality of the products we supply. But it also allows us to be innovative.
“Unlike many window suppliers, we don’t have to get cooperation from a systems company if we want to try something new.
“A good example of this is our cill with its extruded anti-jemmy design. The anti-jemmy design was engineered into the cill to give greater security to the window. No other systems company does this, but it’s offered as standard when you buy a ECOSlide window. That’s just one instance where being fully vertically integrated has allowed us to be nimble when we want to improve.”
“Over the last 15 years, that’s allowed us to continually develop and improve the ECOSlide window, and ensures our customers receive products that are always at the cutting-edge of what’s possible.
“Right now, we’re working on a number of new improvements for ECOSlide – and we’re excited to unveil some of them later in 2021.”
